My family regularly volunteers at a senior center, and like so many people today, I worry about the health care needs of my aging parents. We need to improve access to health care, particularly for children and seniors.
There is nothing more important than getting Nevadans back to work. I have worked for the past several years to create more job opportunities for small businesses. Building our economy to create jobs and stabilizing our housing market by reducing the number of foreclosures are my top priorities. In the Assembly, I will work to make Nevada a transportation, manufacturing and distribution hub of the West. We must also continue to create jobs through road and building projects and renewable energy development.
We need to do more to prepare our students for today's jobs, improve career and technical education opportunities, and help every student reach his or her academic potential. As a legislator, I will focus on ways to recruit, reward, and retain effective teachers and principals, especially where they are needed most.
We cannot afford waste and lack of transparency at any level of government. I will fight for increased transparency of state spending and efficiency in every state agency that our tax dollars are being spent wisely.
